Home Sweet Home.

Just got back from a business trip and I am so thankful I don't have to travel very often for my job. I hate being taken out of my routine, away from my Cathe workouts, my family, my cats, my friends. . . The first day of travel is always exciting and full of anticipation. I look forward to having some "me" time and eating good food on an expense account. After 2 days, I'm bored stiff and ready to come home.

I don't sleep very well in hotels...

Les Derriere et Les Ventre (Butts & Guts)

I don't know if that's the proper french translation for the popular Cathe workout, Butts and Guts, but it sounds French, right? DD13 only took 6 weeks of French so please cut her some slack if she got it wrong.

Anyway, this was my workout this morning. I did the Standing Glutes & Abs Timesaver premix and thought to myself while I was doing it. Cool - I only do the exercises once (unlike the Leg Blast premix I usually do) so I shouldn't be TOO SORE tomorrow! Yeah, right....

Step Fit: A Blast from the Past!

Cardio day today and I'm not following a rotation these days. I pretty much make up my mind what dvd to do about 30 seconds before I do it. What to do today? Imax3? No, don't have the energy today at 5 a.m. Kickboxing? No, I feel like doing step today, a class Cathe step workout maybe. I know - Step Fit!

I remember first learning this workout on VHS and having a LOT of trouble with the 2 knee repeater, pivot on the board, straddle move. I must have re-wound that tape a dozen times before...

Uh, oh . . . DOMS from STS 1RM Testing

Uh, oh. . . if this is any indication how tough STS is, I'm in big trouble.

I started doing my 1 rep max testing for STS on Sunday with exercises from disc 1. I skipped a lot of the pushups because there's no 1RM to calculate there. My chest, shoulders and biceps felt nicely worked out but NO WHERE NEAR the soreness I'm feeling 12 hours later from disc 2 (back, triceps) exercises!

I'm feeling major DOMS in my back which doesn't often get DOMS so that's a surprise....

Workouts this week have been cut short and Thursday was an unplanned rest day. Not that big a deal when you're eating clean and you're not trying to lose weight. Well, my eating has not been clean AND I am trying to lose weight so. . . not so good.

DH made 2 apple pies this week using the Alton Brown method for making apple pie. For those of you unfamiliar with Alton, he's on the Food Channel and I think he appeals to DH because of all the nifty little gadgets he uses (e.g. pie bird,...
