Day 18, January 18, 2009

You know it's funny how some days are just easier than others. Today was one of those days.
I did MIS today and those crazy 8s didn't make me want to give up after the 1st set. Maybe it's all the snow shoveling I've been doing this winter.
The rest of the workout went fine. I did pause and add more rests in because Cathe doesn't seem to rest at all between sets and I try to lift heavy with this workout. I don't consider that cheating by the way - although I used to. I guess with age I've gotten smarter about making the workout work for ME vs. keeping up with the instructor.
Eating was easier today, too. It was Hospitality Sunday after mass today. Our family affectionately refers to it as "Donut Sunday". I resisted donuts today although I could have had one if I wanted and that made me feel powerful enough to resist. DH and I saw Slumdog Millionaire this afternoon while the kids saw Bedtime Stories. (SM is a great movie by the way - hard to watch at times but worthwhile overall.) That took of most of my Sunday afternoon which is usually a dangerous time for eating because I'm hanging around the house not really busy enough to keep myself away from the kitchen. We ate Arby's after the movie. I know, I know - not the best choice but I was starving when the movie let out and didn't feel like cooking. I had an Arby's Melt without the cheese so the calorie count wasn't too bad. Strangely enough, I feel satisfied enough to last the night. Yeah, eating today was definitely easier than normal.

I know what you mean. I try to remember that I weight probably about 50lbs more than Cathe, so my pushups and squats, lunges and full body weight exercises are already much heavier than hers. I also try to remember that she is in a studio, where they take breaks on occasion, just changing the camera angle so we don't notice. All of that just makes me prouder of myself when I keep up with her. A lot of times I have heavier weights than her anyway, but damned if I can do lunges like her!
Congrats on the lack of doughnuts! |
