I did STS Meso 1, Week 1 Chest, Shoulders, Biceps on Tuesday and the FitTV version of Kick, Punch, Crunch yesterday. I skipped the last 10 minutes or so of the latter, including the ab work (I really, really, really need to start doing ab work one of these days) but according to my Go Wear Fit I burned over 200 calories, averaging about 7 calories a minute. Which is good for me. My feet were kind of sore, and I got this weird ache in my instep that shows up every so often, and I hated the feeling of my fat shaking around everytime I jumped, but otherwise I did OK. My knees were surprisingly mellow about the impact. And I enjoyed it more than I did the kickboxing I tried in 4DS. I wish the music was better, though.
As for my starting up STS again, I just decided to go back for now as I was having trouble commiting to a different plan. I just couldn't get my head into Pyramids again, so I figured I'd fool around with STS some more. My weights were about the same as they were the first time through, and doing 15 reps of everything seemed interminable. But overall it was OK. I didn't blow up the stability ball so I had to modify some stuff (the stability ball comes up A LOT in this workout) and I didn't worry much about getting the heaviest weight I could on everything. I was still pleasantly sore the next day.
I am planning on doing M1, W1 Legs today. Unfortunately the baby woke up at 5AM so I'm dragging ass already, and really hope I can motivate to work out during her nap.
I was seriously bummed a couple days ago when I weighed myself and the scale said 154.4, a full 2 pounds over where I was. But yesterday it said 152. So, whatever. I ate some cake and a gigantic bowl of cereal to celebrate.

Doesn't KPC have the theme song for Jurassic Park on its ab work or something?

Didn't get to the ab work ... actually didn't finish the "kick, punch" part either. I didn't realize Jurassic Park had a theme song. There is a song I like in KPC that is in some other Cathe workout - I think he's saying "I like to rock" over and over in it. Of course, that describes about 4000 songs, so I don't know as it's particularly helpful. But I doubt that it's from Jurassic Park.

Oh yes, Jurrasic Park has a very distinctive theme song- at least, to someone that has seen the movies 5 million times and read the books 10 million times and took a personal pilgrimage to Michael Crichton's grave to lay flowers and teddy bears. Not that I'm saying that I did that, of course...

OK, I find that only mildly disturbing. I respect the courage it took to (almost) admit to it.
I did a paper in law school where I supported my thesis in large part by referring to the section in Jurassic Park where someone talks about the unpredictability of behavior -- I don't remember it well now, but there was something about a computer model that anticipated the dinosaur behavior, and some smarty-pants guy (probably the Jeff Goldblum character) pointed out how wrong it was to think behavior could move along some kind of "normal" path. So although I haven't read the book in ages, I know I must have been pretty impressed by it if I used it in a paper for school. Didn't know Michael C. was dead. I'm sure he appreciated your teddy bear. |

Yeah, he died of cancer a few months ago. And yeah, it was Jeff Goldblum's character Ian Malcolm that had the Chaos modelling throughout the book and it did show up in a minor way in the movie. As for teddy bears, I must reiterate that I did not actually say that I had done such a thing...
