I am a single mom. I am currently unemployed. I am still being stalked, harrassed and attacked by my ex after leaving him over 2 years ago. Only one thing is keeping me from being carted to the loony bin. My 25+ year love affair with exercise. Bring it on!!!

Sunday 10/2 - Cardio Coach today

I got up early this morning and went to the gym to grind out 950 calories with Cardio Coach on the elliptical. I could have done this on my elliptical at home, but I wanted to make it feel different. Besides, my new apartment is next door to the club where I teach classes.

I had forgotten about this blog. I was up late last night reading through all my posts. I have been through a lot -- both while I was blogging and afterward. I documented most of 2010 on Facebook... I ran another marathon and qualified for Boston... but I didn't have the funds to get there... and then things really went *boom* with the ex, and I am not really past all that yet. Holiday weight is gone!

Well, the indulgences of the holidays are gone and I am back to my pre-holiday weight. I feel so much better, although the cookies and goodies consumed over Christmas were almost worth it. I'm itching to start running, but I'm giving it a couple more weeks, because I will be working a lot for other people the next few days. My first couple of races will be St Patty's Day dashes... A 5 miler on Saturday March 13th and a 5K Sunday March 14th. Can't wait!

Eating real food!

As I continue the fitness journey, the busy me will often reach for an energy bar or protein shake -- something that does not resemble real food.

How refreshing it was to make myself lunch today -- not from a box, but from the skillet. I had pan fried potatoes with egg, saugage and cheese. Comfort food, most definitely.

...well, the eggs were actually egg beaters
...the sausage was reduced fat frozen sausage links cut up in chunks
...but the cheese was...

Energy drain today!

I have posted before about how my menstrual cycle affects me -- I don't get bitchy or angry -- but all the energy is sucked from my body and I find it to be a large effort to just get up and walk across the room. Looking at the calendar, I would have just ovulated about 2 days ago, so I can expect this for the next week and a half. Once my period begins, I am OK again. I shouldn't have to be a prisoner to my cycle like this. I'll admit, I overtrained last year and had a span of time when I didn't...
