I'm attempting to run my fourth and fifth marathons this fall consecutively. The Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 26th and the Philadelphia Marathon on Nov. 23rd.
Time to get back to business!

I’ve kind of gotten off the beaten path this week. I was craving some variety so I tried out the two new Firm workouts I pre-ordered from Amazon (the kettlebell and kickbox circuit). I enjoyed them both but they didn’t get my heartrate up like running or doing a Cathe cardio will do. I’d classify them as lighter intensity and I’ll hang on to them for recovery days or days when I just want to do something different.
Today I got back to running and ran 4.25 miles (which included 6 repeats). I also tacked on the kettlebell abs from Amy Bento’s new DVD, Advanced Step Challenge 3. I used the cute 5lb. kettlebell from my Firm kit so it wasn’t very intense but it gave me a chance to try out the moves before investing in a heavier kettlebell. I think I’m going to take the plunge and order a 10 lb. and 15 lb. “Go fit” kettlebell from Amazon (they’re cheaper than Target even with shipping charges).
So anyway, I’m feeling more “refreshed” and ready to hit the last three and half weeks left of my marathon training (before my 3 week taper) with gusto. I felt guilty not running very much this week but it was a good break for my body and spirit. I’ve been in training for a marathon (or 50k) since January 1st of this year and I’ve grown a little weary along the way. I’ll have a short break after the fall marathons to catch my breath before I start training for the 50 mile race in April 09.

I think it's great to break things up , especially with all the focus on running and the marathon! The kettleballs are very intriguing though!!
