I'm attempting to run my fourth and fifth marathons this fall consecutively. The Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 26th and the Philadelphia Marathon on Nov. 23rd.
Long run....
Wow, what a busy weekend it has been! We put in an above ground pool and finally have it filled. We started the chemicals in the water and have final inspection (from our township) this week so hopefully we can use it soon.
My long run today was 10 miles. I felt really, really good during the run and finished in well under 2 hours so I'm a happy camper. The weather has been a lot cooler lately and it's nice in the morning.
I also finished up week one of my rotation (using Push Pull). Next week I'll use Gym Styles as well as running, biking, and maybe some 4DS Bootcamp Drills thown in. I enjoyed the Bootcamp class that Cathe did on the Road Trip and that workout reminds me of it.
I also want to start doing Yasso 800 repeats again. It's basically half mile repeats at your goal marathon pace. For example....my marathon goal is 4 hours 45 minutes so I'll do a half mile at 6.3 mph on the treadmill for 4 minutes 45 seconds then pull back to a slow jog for a three minute recovery. I'll do 4 sets of this starting this week and progress to 10 repeats a couple of weeks before the first marathon. The purpose is to get my body used to that pace so I run it naturally during the marathon. For a more indepth explanation, do a search for "Yasso 800" on Runners World.com.
