I'm attempting to run my fourth and fifth marathons this fall consecutively. The Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 26th and the Philadelphia Marathon on Nov. 23rd.

Back to BFL and the basics....

Well, I went back to BFL this week. I’m going to do the BFL weight work by the book again along with running and other types of interval cardio. I’ll continue to work core/abs whenever I can. As for the eating, I’ll just continue on as I have been (I’ve always eaten 5-6 small meals a day) but I’m going to try to up the protein a little….I tend to eat about 30% but I’m going to try to get it up to 35%. And of course lots of veggies, fruit, and some complex carbs (like oatmeal & brown rice)....

I'm still here and hanging on tight!

This has been a super busy week with Back to School Night and a teacher conference on Friday. I also had two big assignments due for my online classes (one of which is still not finished and due today, ugh).

Workout wise, I felt like it was okay. I tried to get more core work in this week and succeeded but my running mileage wasn’t what I had planned. Eh well, I know that no matter how much I try to stick to the marathon training plan I set out for myself, I’ll have to be flexible....

20 Miler done!

Well, I finished my long run of 20 miles with a couple of snaffu’s along the way. I bought some Clif Shots (energy gels) this week instead of GU, like I normally do. Let’s just say that 2X Expresso flavor Clif Shots taste like what I imagine soaking an old shoe in 5 day old coffee and drinking the liquid would taste like…..totally disgusting, blech! I took that one at mile 12 and spent the next 3 miles trying to get that awful bitter taste out of my mouth until I could get another drink of water....

Feelin' Good...Feelin' Fine....

Well, I’m feeling in a really good place mentally and physically. I ran 2 miles on Friday, did the lower body premix of Cathe’s 4DS, and tacked on the stability ball abs from B&G. Yesterday was a rest day and today I ran 6 miles plus did shoulders from 4DS. I’ve got a tough three weeks of training coming up….next weekend my long run is 20 miles, the following week 6 miles, then my final long run of 22 miles. I’m hoping the weather cools a bit, I’m tired of running for hours in this heat...

Time to get back to business!

I’ve kind of gotten off the beaten path this week. I was craving some variety so I tried out the two new Firm workouts I pre-ordered from Amazon (the kettlebell and kickbox circuit). I enjoyed them both but they didn’t get my heartrate up like running or doing a Cathe cardio will do. I’d classify them as lighter intensity and I’ll hang on to them for recovery days or days when I just want to do something different.
