Master Your Metobolism chp1-4
Jillian wrote anything that throws your hormones out of wack will cause you to yo-yo up and down with your weight.
Some people think that they have a bad metabolism that why they can’t lose weight but it’s your out of wick hormones which is causing the weight gain.
Many factors play into hormone imbalance
1.endocrine disruptors, anything that mimics a hormone will block the real hormone from working an example would be the plastic food containers or cups.
2. too many lazy years, as we age most of the hormones decrease that is why it’s important to exercise. “Exercise reduces weight-gain hormones like cortisol by releasing endorphins to combat stress and increase fat burring hormones like testosterone, t4, etc.”(j. Michaels).
3. too many processed foods because our bodies don’t recognize the processed junk as food.
4. too much pesticides in our food and too many toxins in the environment
5.too many hours awake and not enough sleep
The interesting thing she wrote was concerning leptin (which is a protein made by fat cells). When you eat a meal and your leptin levels are normal, fat cells will release this hormone. The problems comes when this hormone is out of balance. This would lead to constant hunger (levels are too high) or anorexia (levels are too low).
Now I’m up to chapter 4 ‘how this diet works”.
