Help on working to HIIT

Posted 09-21-2008 at 04:01 PM by hottiescientist
I've been trying to rethink of goals for exercising recently. I've always used Cathe DVDs are guidelines to work towards. That's why I stick at learning a step routine like a bulldog...its one of those, I will get this if I work hard enough. But I have to admit, I've been avoiding specific Cathe workouts now for months...its the Imaxes. I never really could do Imax3 (like ever, I didn't even want to work towards the step choreography on that) and I shyed away from Imax2. Does anyone have any advice on building up to HIIT? I would really like to shake up my workout as I've seen its been harder and harder to budge on the scale. Frankly, I think I'm just really bad at lunges even still after working at this for a year so that first interval of Imax2 just demotivates me. It's actually very unlike me...often the harder something is, the more I work for it. Any advice would be great (or anyone else telling me its freaking hard would be nice too!).

Hey Hottie!!

How about IMAX, the original? The step sequences are VERY easy! And there are modifications. Start with intervals 1-5 first. And build up.
My first interval STEP workout was Gin Miller , INTENSE MOVES. that one is cool!

Or you could try by doing running intervals on a treadmill. (do you use the TM?).

Just some ideas....

Chris,

Those are some great ideas. I don't have Imax Original and I think its on a DVD with three workouts, which would be great for the buck but I have so many DVDs to master at this point, that I feel bad spending more on DVDs.

I'm have an elliptical at home and I have access to professional TMs at the USC gym. I hate admitting this, but machines are never good for me but I'm trying to be better. Its just too easy for me to...say turn down the resistance or incline and actually not do the interval, you know? Ahh...I'm so lame...
