One down, only nine more to go! :)

So I completed my first training run for my 18 mile race this morning. I did 7 miles around my neighborhood.
I got out there early (before 7am) so it was still cool out. It also stayed overcast for the entire run so I didn't have the sun to deal with. That was nice. It WAS a bit humid though so the sweat was still pourin'!
It was a good run. Nice steady pace. Not too slow or too fast.
I am excited to run this race as it's a new distance for me. I've never done more then a half marathon. The 18 is in preparation for a full marathon which I would like to run 2009!
That being said, I had been DREADING training for the race because it has to be done while summer is in full swing! UGH! Now that the first one is behind me though, I am hoping the next one won't hold such a dread factor for me.

Hey, Wendy!!! When is your race? I'm so proud of you with all your running. I remember on the Cheetah posts when you were nervous about beginning...now look at you. I'm curious.......what training program do you follow?
GOOD LUCK! Gayle |

Good job on your run. I have not been to cathe.com in a LONG time. It sure looks different. I just created a blog to write about my 1/2 marathon training. I mostly run but I also do cathe too.
What 18 mile race are you running? |

Good job on the run! I'm trying to get ready for all longer runs this fall and winter. It's hard running in the heat!

Gayle: Hi. My race is October 12th. It's coming up FAST! I've never run farther then the HM distance as of yet! When I trained for my first half marathon I took Jeff Galloway's beginner training program and tweaked it to suit me. For my second HM I totally winged it. I ran a couple of 8 milers on the TM a couple weeks before and that was it! For this race I am doing my own thing but it atleast has a structure to it and it follows Galloway's schedule in that I will do my long runs every other week with a shorter distance between. Aside from that I am planning on running one or two times on the TM during the week for 30-45 mins using CC or ITread. Thanks for commenting!
![]() Fitkansaschik: When is your HM? Is it your first? Good luck with it! I'll have to come check out your blog!!! Jane: Running in the heat is tough for sure. I think that's why I wasn't initially psyched to train for this race. I am hoping I continue to get out there early enough so that it's not too bad. LaDonna: We are racing on the same day!!!! ![]() |
