Positive Thinking
According to the teachings of my Guru, there are five points that make a complete yoga practice:
-Proper Relaxation
-Proper Breathing
-Proper Exercise
-Proper Diet
-Positive Thinking & Meditation
All of these aspects work together to bring out the maximum benefits of your yoga practice. If you ignore one and or focus only on one area your practice is not balanced and you won't progress as fast or reap the full benefits.
This applies to everyday life as well as achieving other fitness goals. For example, If i'm spending all my time focused on exercise but i'm eating junk food, i obviously will not get the results i want.
I was thinking about Positive Thinking. I know from experience that having positive thoughts and affirmations can help me achieve or manifest my goals much more quickly. Being negative or dwelling on the negative does nothing positive and actually attracts more negativity.
I haven't been focusing on all the positive results of the effort i have been putting in for the last few weeks. I was frustrated and discouraged because of the number on the scale and made that my only measure of success.
The fact is, the scale has gone down which is a move in the right direction and I'm feeling better now that i'm exercising regularly.
So, this week i'm going to practice more positive thinking instead of hating myself if i don't eat "perfectly" or if the scale isn't moving down as fast as i would like.
