Establishing New Patterns

Today My plan is to attempt Turbo Jam for the first time with Lower Body from Basic Step.

I'm also going to pay more attention to what i'm eating this week. I managed to cut out the chocolate and chips last week since i had been indulging a little too much recently.

One thing i do know about myself is that it's easier for me to have none rather than a little bit. I can't do a little bit. I can't have "just a little bite to satisfy the craving". If i'm craving chocolate, then i want the whole chocolate bar (maybe even two!), not a bite!

I think one of the most difficult things for me is eating right. I have very bad snacking habits that started when i was a kid. I was a really skinny kid and ate whatever i wanted. In my early twenty's i was still pretty skinny and it was very easy to make progress with exercise. Suddenly around the age of 26 i noticed I was a little heavier than i used to be. Nothing major, but over time i suddenly found myself 30 pounds heavier and it's not so easy to get it off now. I don't look fat or out of shape but i'm definitely "soft" and i really need to lean out and tone up.

I think that if i really want to commit to a healthy lifestyle for the long term i need to learn moderation. It's not realistic for me to give up junk food for good. I need to be able to eat some cake every now and then. Every now and then, not every time i watch TV!

I also need to find other ways to cope with stress. Without even thinking about it i reach for the chips and chocolate when i'm stressed out. I would like to replace that with something productive like exercise. I do feel good when i exercise but when life gets busy it's the first thing i give up even though it's probably what would help most during those times.

Elle, did you attempt and rock out Turbo Jam with Lower Body from Basic Step?

How is your eating healthier working out for you? You know, I love to snack on grapes or carrots when I am sitting down bored or doing something mindless. I will also try to drink a glass of water so that I stay away from the junk food. I know how I am with junk so I keep it out of my house, for some reason, I feel like if it's here I HAVE to eat it all right here and right now...

Thanks Laura,
I did actually sub in the Turbo Jam where i had planned to do Basic Step since i was getting really bored with that. I had never done any Turbo Jam workouts before so it was fun to try something new.
Thanks for the nutrition tips. I pretty much only drink water and funny you mention the grapes since i was snacking on those at work on Friday.
