Wrapping up Week #6

Didn't work out Thursday or Friday because of sore quads and traps. Walmart came through for me. The foam roller I ordered came in well before it was due, and I picked it up Friday after work. Worth every penny! After rolling around on the living room floor for awhile, my quads loosened up and I was feeling pretty good. Haven't figured out the most effective way to get my traps. What I did helped somewhat, but there's not much I can do with my neck.
Thanks to my stupidity on Wednesday, I'm off schedule just a bit. Today was...
Disc 8 - Back & Triceps
for the second time. Overall, a good workout. Did a decent job focusing on specific back muscles. Didn't push the weight amounts much. My neck is still a bit tender, and I was trying really, really hard not to tense up & feel everything in my traps. That said, after reviewing my workout card just now, I see that I stuck pretty close to my target weights.
Dropped back to 45 lbs, from 50 lbs, for Barbell Rows. Good call. Maintained form, but still struggled for the last few reps. Dropped way back for Deadlifts - 45 lbs, from 60 lbs last week. A bit gun-shy after Wednesday. Did ok. Felt it in my glutes & hams, and lower back.
I wonder if my shoes had anything to do with my problems on Wednesday? They are relatively new, and I'm pretty sure I haven't worn them when I work legs. They are supposed to be for aerobics, and are definitely different from my running shoes & cross trainers. Hmm. Worth considering.
Ok, back to my back & triceps. Really happy with the dumbell rows drop sets. Decided to go for it, and used 25/20/15 lbs (target was 24/19/15 lbs). Worked hard, but got in the reps & maintained form. Cross Body Kickback drop sets: I really like those. Definitely feel 'em. Still amazes me how 6 lbs can be such a struggle! (10/8/6 lbs). On the whole, I'm really pleased with my trap work today. (Don't think I've ever said that!) Even did better on my band work.
Opted out of the extended stretch, which could come back & bite me. Did a bit of cardio afterwards, & called it quits.
Tomorrow it's probably going to be plyo legs. The green flag drops at Bristol around 2, so I want to be done with that and on my treadmill around then. It's supposed to start raining tonight & continue Sunday. Good day to get all of the indoor stuff done -- the laundry, cleaning & cooking I put off today because it was too nice to stay inside. Not as bad as it sounds. DH took care of some of the laundry today, wonderful husband that he is.

Hi Beth!
Sounds like you're really working it out! Couldn't help but notice you mentioned "Bristol." I know there are many places named Bristol, but your comment about the weather made me think you're in RI. Are you? I'm in East Providence! I'm just starting out with Cathe and am dying to get into the STS and Cardio Shock, but I'm not ready for those yet! I've only been back to working out regularly for a couple of months and my endurance (CV and muscular) is not great yet. All of you who are advanced are giving me some great motivation and inspiration to get there! |

I'm sitting here in Nebraska, but I have a brother who lives in RI. Around Saunderstown, I think. I still haven't made it out to visit him. Someday.
I know what you mean about motivation & inspiration. I'm about the same age as Cathe, and every time I do one of her workouts, I think "If she can do it, so can I." |
