Reflecting

Sometimes I look in the mirror and can't see a single ounce of improvement for the last year of working out. It's really hard to remember my body a year ago. My husband measured my body fat yesterday at 23.5%. Since I started in April 2007 at almost 40% BF, I know I have to be making progress. But for some reason, it's still hard for me to believe that I'm actually improving. I kind of get in this downward spiral of negative thinking that's hard to correct. Week at a glance

Today was my rest day and it was MUCH more "rest"ful than last week This is the only week of the month that I fit in all six of my scheduled workouts. I even did an extra half hour aerobics class at the Y that wasn't scheduled. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself. Usually something comes up and a workout gets missed. Still a ways to go

I just got done doing Slow & Heavy Chest and Back. I love the slow and heavy videos but at the end I can't help but think that I'm truly lacking in strength. Lifting weights doesn't cause any problems. It's when we get to the body weighted exercises. Like, today, there are planks that go on forever. I have a hard time doing a full plank for 10-15 seconds. "Rest" Day?

Today was my "rest" day. I took my daughters, ages 4 and 2, to the zoo. We had a good time. It was hot (for us in the northwest anyway) and the zoo is on a hill. So, wherever we went, it was either up or down. Pushing a double stroller turns everything into a little bit of it's own workout. I'm am so glad that I've been working out. Since the new website has been up and running, I have really enjoyed exploring all of the new features. Today I started calculating my 1RM. That, in itself, was a workout I love the workout manager. One of my goals for this coming week is to get out a tape measure and document my current measurements. I also really like the workout calendar. I just wish that the cover of the DVD I schedule for each day would show up instead of just the bar for DVD or whatever I scheduled. Maybe I'll suggest...
